Love Your Indie is a new loyalty card scheme for book lovers keen to support Britain’s independent booksellers – and get themselves free books from the country’s best independent publishers. The first books on offer include new titles from Sebastian Barry, Michel Faber and Andy Kershaw, to name only three.

And the first time you use your Card within the next six weeks you’ll get 20% off your purchase in all of the participating shops.

Love Your Indie is run by a collective of independent publishers comprising Atlantic, Canongate, Faber, Granta, Icon, Portobello, Profile, Quercus, Serpent’s Tail and Short Books, in association with the Guardian and Observer.

It’s simple to use. Find your card, located within today’s Weekend magazine, or pick up one from any participating shop. Register your details on this website – and you’ll be given a unique ID number to write on to your card.

Take your card to any of the 100+ independent booksellers around the country participating in the scheme – find your nearest here.

Present your card to the retailer when you buy your books and – as well as getting 20% off the first time you use the card – you’ll get a stamp on the reverse of the card for every £10 you spend.

You can collect stamps from any of the participating shops. When you have collected ten stamps, ask the shop assistant to verify your card. They’ll enter your unique ID number written on the card to the retailer’s section of the Love Your Indie website, and you’ll then receive an email offering you the choice of one of the free books currently available, provided by Independent Alliance publishers.
